The Greater Ocean City, MD area offers many quality-professional golf courses. Bring your golfing group and you are usually less than 20- or 30-minutes drive to a nearby golf course. Hiking
Assateague Island's National Seashore Park offers some easy walking trails over sand dunes and through the forested wetlands viewing the Ocean and Bays. The Pocomoke State Park is nearby and also offers excellent hiking trails through the forested areas. Snow Hill
Snow Hill was founded in 1686 in Somerset County by English settlers who may have named it after a street and neighborhood of the City of London called "Snow Hill". The town received its first charter on October 26, 1686, and was made a Port of Entry in 1694. In 1742, Worcester County was carved out of the eastern half of old Somerset County and Snow Hill, centrally located in the new county and at the head of navigation on the Pocomoke River, was made the county seat. Assateague Island
Assateague Island is a 37-mile (60 km) long barrier island located off the eastern coast of Maryland and Virginia. It is best known for its herds of feral horses, pristine beaches and the Assateague Lighthouse. The island also contains numerous marshes, bays and coves. Bridge access for cars is possible from both Maryland and Virginia, though no road runs the full length of the island. The Assateague Federal Seashore Park is a highlight. Assateague Island is approximately 15 to 20 minutes by car from the River House Inn.
Ocean Beaches and Other Nearby Places
40 minutes by car... the Ocean City, MD Boardwalk and beaches are within easy reach. Drive to Ocean City, MD - Park at the Park n Ride incoming into town, bus on in and spend a day on the boardwalk and beach! Public bathroom facilities are available. Assateague Island State and Federal Parks also offer beach access for swimming. Lifeguards are on duty during summer months at both locations. Bring your surf or boogie board, beach umbrella, a cooler of snacks and beverage and enjoy the clean salty smell of the Atlantic Ocean while basking in the sun.
